Welcome To Our Home Page!

The Cleveland Hawking Club is a new club for falconers and austringers in the north east of england. A monthly meeting where people who share the same passion for falconry can meet in a relaxed environment.
Why a club for the north east?

The club was formed so that falconers/prospective falconers from the north east with varied knowledge of birds of prey can learn from each other and hopefully practice the sport in the best possible manner.

With the increasing success of captive breeding and the increasing interest in the sport of falconry, numbers of falconers are steadily rising.

Who is welcome?

Anyone with an interest in birds of prey. From the seasoned falconer to the novice.

Where does the club meet?
The meets will take place normally on the first sunday of each month at "The Falcon" in Hilton near Thornaby-on-Tees at 6.30pm.

UPCOMING MEET DATES ARE

THE 7Th OF DECEMBER 2008

THE 4TH OF JANUARY 2009

AND THE 1ST OF FEBRUARY 2009

What is falconry ?

Falconry is the art and sport of flying trained birds of prey at wild quarry in their natural state and habitat

Is it for me?
A hawk takes a lot of looking after and is an expensive business! It is not like a gun that can be cleaned and put away. Nor can it be looked after by someone inexperienced should you wish to go on holiday. Falconry involves a lot of time and effort on the behalf of the falconer.
